Today i got a visit from an old friend of mine at the office. WE got connected again by using an iphone app called “Whatsapp”. This application will search the iphone contacts and connect all the numbers who are using an iphone together in chat. When i first installed the app i found the first name was my friend Ahmad. So he called me today and wanted to visit me in the office. We go back to 13 years ago where the internet world was fresh and the users were limited in the IRC world. So you can say that we were pioneers and we first met on the internet and got close since then. But life goes on and you get married and have kids with work in morning and obligations in the evenings and you get carried away and you lose track of your connections and good friends.

When i saw Ahmad at the office i was shocked, he was half the man who i knew. He lost 46 Kilo’s in one year. Which was amazing and wonderful. He says that the secret is in the mind, and commitment. He was neat, cool, smart, updated, and knowledgable like always. We share the same interests in technologies, movies, tv shows, Life views, and much more. Thats why i learn something new from him each time i see him.

I needed to post about this visit because im so happy. Secondly, because Ahmad have this affect on me that stimulates my brain and give me a boost im my life and makes me feel right. It’s good to have such a friend even if you dont see him much, but you know that he is around and remembering you from time to time. So thank you Ahmed for the visit.

Warning to all students who did not graduate yet. To all the students who are going to graduate this semester of the next semester. To fulfill all the requirements for graduations you must do a practicum course. And to to do that course you have to register 596 on the internet during the registration period. And because the registration period is over, the only way to do it is to register it next semester. its not enough to fill out the form and do your practicum work and report. These are the words of the director of the LIS program. One of our graduating friends this semester almost did not graduate because of this problem.

Yesterday was the first day in Palm peach hotel meeting room #1. And as usual the course was supposed to start at 5 pm but the audience did not gather and meet until i was near 6 . After a short voting they all decided to move the start time to 4 which is not appropriate for me at all. But i had to agree and go along with the majority. All the members were employees of the Public Relation Department and colleges of mine from different backgrounds.

The lecturer Mr,Khaled Al-Khulaif is a very nice person with a master degree from Glasgow University. He is very cooperative guy and easy going. And of course there were some light snacks in the breaks.

What annoys me now after 6 hours of attending the course that all the information i got is about basic communication knowledge. Like the process of a message, the sender, receiver, what effect a good message, which is not related what so ever to the Etiquette & Protocol i had in mind. And tomorrow we are going to continue with same information.Most of the guys there enjoy the activity and the afternoon attendance. For me, and after more then 2 years of afternoon classes i feel board most of the time.

Tomorrow im not going to attend as i have to attend Dr.Sajjad because we may have an exam. I also miss my friends there and the college atmosphere.

السرقات العلمية في جامعة الكويت قضية باتت تتكرر باستمرار دون وضع حد من قبل الادارة الجامعية لاستئصالها على الرغم من الحديث المتواصل عن هذه القضية التي تطرقت لها «القبس» مرورا وتكررا في كلية العلوم الادارية تحديدا، وهي قضية لا تعمم على جميع الاساتذة بل هي لفئة قليلة حاولت تضليل الحقائق امام المجتمع الاكاديمي.
تفاصيل السرقة العلمية، كما رواها مصدر جامعي لـ «القبس» انها ثابتة وبالادلة، حيث انها وصلت الى ان قيادي وافد في كلية العلوم الادارية قد قام بنشر بحث تحت عنوان «المنهج المعماري: اطار لنظام المعلومات الوطني لدولة الكويت» باللغة الانكليزية، في مجلة علمية تابعة لجامعة الكويت سنة 2000، بطريقة مقتبسة حرفيا لاجزاء كبيرة، بما فيها الخلاصة دون ذكر للمصدر الاصلي وهو مشروع تعديل نظم المعلومات في احدى الجامعات الاميركية المنشور في عام 1994 تحت عنوان Reshaping the» Enterprise: An overview: Report of the Information Architecture and Process Innovation Project».
وبين المصدر ان السرقة العلمية لم تعد محصورة بتورط الوافد بالسرقة فقط وامتدا] آثارها على ترقيته او استمراره بمنصبه القيادي او حتى بقائه في الجامعة ام لا، بل ان آثارها المدوية لربما ستمتد للمساس بسمعة المشاريع الوطنية والحيوية حيث تبين ان البحث المسروق ممول من قبل المجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون والاداب (ضمن مشروع المكتبة الوطنية)، مما يجعل الدكتور الوافد تحت شبهة المساس بالمال العام ويتحتم مطالبته بإرجاع الاتعاب المالية التي تقضاها من المجلس مقابل عمل لم يقم به.
وأشار المصدر الى انه مما سيزيد الطين بلة، وهو امر وارد، انه في حال تقدمت الجهة المالكة «احدى الجامعات الاميركية» لحقوق الملكية الفكرية مطالبة كل من جامعة الكويت (ناشر البحث) والمجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون والآداب (ممول البحث)، برد الاعتبار المعنوي والمالي حيال ما قام به الاستاذ الجامعي المذكور والذي قد يكون بتقديم اعتذار رسمي، على اقل تقدير، او لربما تصل الى تعويض مالي.
وحث المصدر، تحسباً لاي ردود فعل متوقعة من مالكي الحقوق، كل من الجهات المسؤولة (الجامعة والمجلس الوطني) بالاسرع الى اتخاذ جميع التدابير عبر القنوات الادارية والقانونية ضد الاستاذ الجامعي فورا ليعكس الرفض المؤسسي الرسمي والشاجب لهذه السلوكيات الاكاديمية الدخيلة التي ساءت لسمعة الجامعة والمجتمع الاكاديمي، متسائلا لماذا لم تقم الادارة الجامعية بوضع حد لهذه التجاوزات الواضحة امام المجتمع الاكاديمي وكأنها جهة مغيبة؟

AS part of project group for class 532, ABdullah, Talal, Hassan, and me visited the AUK campos and the AUK library this afternoon. We all were there at 4 PM in this beautiful weather near the sea and in the most beautiful area in Kuwait wich is Salmiya street where Sultan Center is near.

The over all atmosphere was great. But the campos was so small that i thought i was walking in my doughter’s kindergarten. We are used to the huge architecture of Kuwait University campos in Shouaikh where each building is larger then the AUK campos. And the library was much smaller then Jaber AL-Ahmed Library. You can see the difference in collection inside clearly.

We left there at 6 pm with an understanding of what we should do. Each with a task and an objective to finish his job. With a promise to come here again to finish what we started.

In August i wrote about getting a course in etiquette made specially for the Public relations department in the ministry. well, it seems that its finally ready. But also the course now as i know is about Protocol and not etiquette, which i dont know the difference. The workshop is to going to start from next Sunday to Thursday. So that means im going to miss two classes. All the employees of the departments will be attending with the manager. I dont know what to expect but i guess there will be allot of eating envolved.

More details will be posted later.

A new service from Google Answers dedicated to the Arabic world and in Arabic language only. egabat google will be more than fun and time consuming for me. The idea is known before in English but this is the first time to be produced in Arabic in a professional style.

اصدر الباحث الفلكي والمؤرخ الكويتي عادل السعدون الجزء الاول من كتابه (موسوعة الاوائل الكويتية) وهو كتاب موسوعي يسرد الوقائع والاحداث الكويتية الاولى.

وذكر السعدون ان الوقائع التي تضمنتها الموسوعة مرتبة حسب التسلسل الزمني من الفترة الواقعة قبل الميلاد الى عام استقلال الكويت في عام 1961، موضحا ان الموسوعة تفردت بنشر احداث ومناسبات ووقائع تظهر للمرة الاولى بشكل كتاب مستقل.

وبين ان العمل والبحث والاعداد لهذا الكتاب استغرق عشر سنوات مشيرا الى انه يحتوي على 1050 صورة لشخصيات ومواقع واماكن كويتية وهو بذلك يعتبر اكثر الكتب التي تحتوي على هذا الكم من الصور التي ينشر بعضها لاول مرة.

ووصف السعدون الكتاب بالقول «ان المتصفح له يعيش تاريخ الكويت يوما بيوم من الايام الاولى وكأنه شريط سينمائي» مضيفا ان الكتاب يتكون من 520 صفحة من القطع الكبير.

وقد كتب مدير مركز البحوث والدراسات الكويتية د.عبدالله يوسف الغنيم كلمة في مقدمة الكتاب جاء فيها ان «هذا جهد طيب في عمل موسوعي تكثر الحاجة اليه في مجاله وهو توثيق للاحداث التاريخية الكويتية في العصور الاولى والمبكرة التي مرت بتاريخ الكويت ويبقى الشكر جديرا بمؤلف موسوعة الاوائل جزاء ما قدم من جهد كبير وبحث مستفيض».
