In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first computer with a hard disk drive (HDD). The HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5MB of data.

  1. Woo hoo.. I cannot imagine if I should bring that monstrous HDD to school. 5 MB was 1 ton; and now I bring my 2 GB together with my keys in the same keyring.

  2. The weird thing that i found in the site that i just added in the post that is back then you could actually rent the drive for 38,000 USD a year. compare that to 8 GB flash that you can BUY now for only 12 Dollars !!!
